Christmas gifts for our artists

The biennial Kangaroo Island Easter Art Exhibition, brought to you by the Artists Collective KI, is the premier event on the island’s arts calendar.

It’s a time and place to admire, acknowledge and reward the many talented artists who enter – with cash prizes that match the wealth of visual art talent on show. And we need your help.

The exhibition is fortunate indeed to have the $10,000 Diana Keir Art Award for ‘best in show’. That is thanks to the work of Alexandra McCarthy, who has raised a corpus of funds in honour of her friend and inspirational Kangaroo Island artist, Diana Keir, to ensure the award is sustainable.

By comparison, the remaining prizes, which the judges can award in categories such as 2D and 3D, photography and printing, and youth age categories, are mostly in-kind (and we thank the KI community and businesses for that support), but artists, frankly, as a generally very poorly paid group, could do with the cash. 

We’d like to help them make some of that cash, and have started a fundraiser to match the major prize with $10,000 to spread across all the categories.

All donations are tax-deductible. Artists themselves, who are entering the exhibition, are not eligible to donate to the ACF platform.
